In our opinion, a brass mount provides the most strength for the least amount of material along with unmatched flexibility. If a mount breaks during construction, heat and solder will bring it back to whole. If an object's poise needs to be adjusted a bit more once it's installed, a pair of wrenches on the mount stem will do the trick. These mounts are easily painted out with acrylic paints, so that all you see is the object on display.
Unless otherwise noted, all Benchmark brass is C360 Free-Machining alloy.

Brass Half-Oval

We use the oval instead of the strap when working with heavier pieces. It gives a subtler appearance, the edges catching less light since they aren't square. If we don't have the oval, we'll grind the edges on strap to get that same effect, but it's an awful lot of grinding! The Half-Oval comes in 35" lengths.

We use this small tubing to make a receptacle for a sliding top hook on something like a plate mount. You can get a pictorial idea of that here. The 1/8" O.D. has room for a 3/32" rod. The 5/32" has room for a 1/8" rod. Round tubing comes (3) 12" pieces per order.
Square tubing is excellent for making a 2-part mount that will maintain alignment - no swiveling here! Sold by the foot and bundled with a piece of foot-long 1/4" square bar that slip-fits perfectly into the 5/16" square tube.
